This list of resources is non-exhaustive, but may prove helpful while writing papers, creating in-text citations, and forming a works cited page.

The only authorized website on MLA style, MLA Style Central provides free resources on research, writing, and documentation.

The Purdue Online Writing Lab (PurdueOWL) is a globally renowned resource that provides support through online reference materials and services for creating citations, cover letters, major-specific writing help, and general advice.

Carlow University's CAA has created a list of resources on MLA Style that is housed on MyCarlow.

 

Citation Tools

Managing citations can feel overwhelming, but there are many tools available to help you stay organized and accurate. These tools can save you time, reduce the risk of errors, and ensure your citations meet the required formatting guidelines. As always, we recommend double-checking your citations on your own against the style guide to make sure there are no errors!

  • Zotero: A free, user-friendly citation manager that helps you collect, organize, and cite your research sources. It integrates with your browser and word processor (like Microsoft Word) for seamless citation creation and organization. Must be downloaded to your computer.
  • ZoteroBib: A quick, web-based tool from the makers of Zotero. ZoteroBib lets you build a bibliography instantly without creating an account or installing software. 
  • PurdueOWL: PurdueOWL is a globally-renowned resource that provides assistance with English to students, teachers, professionals, and organizations across the world. Their online writing lab offers global support through online reference materials and services for creating citations, cover letters, major-specific writing help, and general writing advice. Their resources focus on APA and MLA styles.
  • Citation Generators: Online tools like Citation MachineBibGuru, or EasyBib can help you create individual citations in a variety of formats. They are not always perfect, so always double-check the formatting.
