Integrating Library Resources

Grace Library's online catalog makes it easy to link to articles, eBooks, and other library resources.

Faculty members who would like to share library resources with their students can easily copy permalinks from the catalog and share them directly into their Brightspace course shell, syllabus, email, or anywhere else they would like to share the link. Permalinks, or persistent links, differ from URLs located at the top of your web browser. These permalinks are available in the library catalog and in database records and will be labeled as a link, permalink, or document url, depending on the database.

Instructors may also be interested in having students locate resources in the catalog and share the permalinks as part of a research assignment.

Linking to Library Resources

To copy a permalink to an item in the Grace Library online catalog, follow these directions. It is easy to locate and copy the permalink to paste into a document, email, browser window, or even directly into a Brightspace course.

Step 1

Click on the title of the resource you would like to link to from the Search Results page. This will take you to the item record.

Step 2

While in the item record, click on the "Share" button. You can also find the "Share" button on the previous page.

Step 3

Click "Copy link" from the window that opens. From here, you can paste the permalink to this item record into any document, browser window, or other location.

You can also find and link to permalinks from a Database Record.

Step 1

Click on the full-text link from an item record in the catalog. This will take you to the item record within the database the item comes in.

Step 2

On the item record in the database, you will see a link that says "Permalink." This example is from an EBSCO database. If you are using a different database and cannot find the word "Permalink," look for options to "Share" or "Link."

Step 3

When you click this link, a box should appear with the text of the direct link to the database record. Copy and paste this URL into your document or email.

Academic Video Online provides access to over 60,000 documentaries, training, and instruction videos that you can use for your coursework to accompany instruction. This database is vast, so the best way to provide these materials is to share a permalink directly to the material you would like to share. AVON also makes it easy to embed video content directly into CelticOnline.

Step 1

From the video's title page in Academic Video Online, click on the "Share" button.

Step 2

Academic Video Online gives users the option to copy the permalink to the item (blue) or to copy the embed code (green). Copying the embed code will allow you to embed the video directly into CelticOnline so your students can view the video within your course shell.
