Beginning in May with Summer 2023 Semester Brightspace will replace Schoology as the learning management system (LMS).
A learning management system (LMS) is a software application used to plan, implement, and assess the learning process. Brightspace provides a platform for engaging in online classroom activities.

We strongly suggest that students taking courses online use a laptop or desktop computer and not device like Chromebook or mobile phone. Brightspace has the PULSE App that is designed to be responsive, but over the spring semester, we had some issues making it work. If this is going to be a problem for you, please see your instructor immediately. We will try to figure our a solution for you.
This section introduces the most commonly used CelticOnline - Brightspace tools. Each tool link is a downloadable/printable PDF guide with a clickable table of contents menu and links to videos.
The Assignments tool is used to upload and submit assignments directly to your instructor. Instructors can view/download submissions, check for plagiarism (via Turnitin), and return submissions with grades and feedback. Your instructor will likely set up an assignment folder with restricted start, due, and end dates. Instructions for the assignment are provided by the instructor.
The Classlist tool lists all students enrolled in a course. Apart from being able to see all your classmates, and who is online, you can use this tool to send a quick class or individual email.
You can track your progress in Brightspace using the Class Progress tool.
The Content section is the main area of the course where you can usually find all the materials for the course. This may be designed by weeks, modules, or units. Depending on the course design, you can access all course materials, activities, and assessments from this one location.
Online discussions are a great way to engage and collaborate. Usually, required discussions are linked in the content area of the course, but all discussions can be viewed directly from the tool as well.
View all your current grades and feedback from the Grades tool.
Use the Groups tool to view group enrollments, choose which group to join, submit to group assignment folders or discussions, or contact group members.
The Quizzes tool houses online quizzes, exams, and tests. While many questions are instantly graded after submission, short and long-answer-type questions are usually graded manually by your instructor. Quizzes are usually time and date restricted and can be set up with a multitude of options. Learn where and how to access your quizzes or exams in Brightspace.
