Interlibrary Loan

Using the ILL Request Form

The second way to submit an ILL request is to manually fill out an Interlibrary Loan request form that will be emailed to the library. We recommend using this form only if you have the information for the book or article you need readily available.

Locating the ILL Request Form

The link to the Interlibrary Loan Request form can be found on the Grace Library homepage below the online catalog search function. Simply click the link that says "Request Interlibrary Loan," and the form will open in a new window.

You can also link to the ILL Request Form from the "Resources" menu on both the desktop and mobile sites.

General Information

To get started, you will need to provide information about yourself and the item you are requesting. You will be asked to provide:

  • Your full Carlow ID number
  • Your name
  • Your Carlow email address
  • If you are a Carlow student or employee
  • The type of material you are requesting (article, book, or other media)

Item Information

On the next page, enter in as much information you have about the book or article you need, including the title, author, publisher, publication date, and ISBN (for books). The more information you can provide, the easier it will be for the librarians to request.

Submit Your Request

On the last page of the form, you can enter the date you need the ILL material by. Please take into account processing and shipping time, if you are requesting a physical item. You can also provide any additional details you would like the librarians requesting your ILL item to know. When you're done, click "Submit."

Confirmation

After you've submitted your request, make sure you receive a confirmation. This ensures that the information you sent has gone through and that your request has been sent to the library via email. You will also receive a confirmation email for your records. If there are any issues with your request, a librarian will reach out to you.
