This year, the OSR collaborated with the Registrar, Financial Aid, Student Accounts, IT, and Enrollment Management to develop a list of students who left Carlow before completing their degrees.
With assistance from each office, we drilled into the student data to find students who would be most likely to graduate in two semesters or less if given a chance to return. The great news is that we found many of the students on our initial list had already returned to complete!
In the end, OSR handed off a curated list of 35 students to Enrollment Management and their counselors have been busy with outreach. So far, 14 of those 35 students have already expressed interest in reenrolling!
Now that the process is established, we intend to repeat this yearly and have the list ready before the end of the spring term.
Colleague/Self Service continues as our student information system (SIS). Students will still use Self Service to access their degree plan and to register for classes.
Brightspace continues as our learning management system (LMS). All courses and coursework will still be held there.
Other departments may have specialty software platforms that meet the specific needs and objectives of their offices. Nav360's biggest strength is facilitating communication between faculty, staff, and students. Throughout this year, we will be offering more training and information about how to get the most benefit from its tools and features.
Nav360 imports the student data from Brightspace and Colleague and may be slightly behind since the systems sync daily (but not hourly). Student data comes into the Nav360 system but does not push out to other systems.
With other campus systems, Nav360 can complement their use by referring students to the other resources available—both generally in our resource lists, and specifically when prompted by student questions.
While academic alerts (academic performance or attendance concerns) and referrals to support offices can be made in Nav360, concerns about mental health, residential concerns, or behavioral issues will still be reported to the CARE team through the existing system.
