OSCQR Rubric

What is an OSCQR Rubric?

The OSCQR rubric stands for the Online Course Quality Review rubric. The OSCQR rubric was designed by a team of staff and campus stakeholders from the State University of New York (SUNY) to help campuses assess online courses and ensure they are learner centered and well designed. The OSCQR rubric is a way to evaluate online courses with the goal to assess and improve the accessibility, design, layout, and instructional methods built into an online course. The CTRL's Instructional Designers have adapted SUNY's OSCQR rubric to fit Carlow University's needs.

The rubric is split into six areas of assessment:

  • Course Overview and Information
  • Design and Layout
  • Content and Activities
  • Instructor-Student/Student-Student Interaction
  • Assessment and Feedback
  • Course Technology & Tools
