Facts About the Office of Student Retention

The Office of Student Retention was established following the successful acquisition of the Department of Education's Title III Part A: Strengthening Institutions Program grant. Housed with the CTRL in Academic Affairs, the OSR focuses on strengthening the systems, processes, and collaborations that support student retention at Carlow—distinct from TRiO, Pittsburgh Promise, and Community Scholars offices, which emphasize individual student outreach.

Our efforts include:

  • Identifying and streamlining communication between folks doing similar work to improve student retention rates and reduce duplicated efforts.
  • Surveying student, staff, and faculty needs in order to optimize support resources.
    • Example: creating a website like CTRL's resource page for the OSR, including a one-stop option for Faculty Advising Resources.
  • Enhancing the institution's student retention capacity by providing processional development, trainings, and online resources in conjunction with the CTRL.
  • Helping to guide the successful university-wide implementation of Navigate360.

We welcome questions, ideas, and collaboration to strengthen our efforts and provide mutual support. Please reach out even if you don't have a clearly-formed idea—we love to brainstorm possibilities!
